Old Grimbsy, Tresco: the Isles of Scilly offer a wealth of beautiful landscapes

Old Grimbsy, Tresco: the Isles of Scilly offer a wealth of beautiful and unspoilt landscapes.

The Isles of Scilly, off the south-western tip of Cornwall, were designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1975. The heathlands and mature woodlands are havens for wildlife and there is a richness of marine life in the clear waters around the islands’ coastlines.

In wildlife terms, the Scilly Isles are probably most famous for the rare migrating birds that pass over them twice a year, and most particularly in autumn when birdwatching enthusiasts can be found scrutinising every hedgerow and scanning the coast for arriving birds.

This break, arranged by Prestige Holidays, aims to make the most of this migration phenomenon and combine it with some general wildlife watching and a comfortable stay with a gourmet meal.

The lucky winner and their guest will enjoy a number of fascinating trips as part of the prize, including a wildlife tour with top ornithologist and naturalist Will Wagstaff, and a chance to appreciate the beauty of the local flora and fauna, as well as the opportunity to learn a little of the islands’ history.
