How to make moth wine ropes

A simple project for close encounters with your local moths.

1. Mix 1kg of sugar with a bottle of (cheap!) red wine in a saucepan to make a sweet mixture.

2. Heat the liquid until all of the sugar has dissolved, then leave it to cool down.

3. Cut metre-long strips of cotton cloth or rope and thoroughly soak them in the mixture.

4. Hang the strips over branches. Leave and check after dark with a torch for moth visitors.
